Where are the detailed single instruments demos?

Post by Parsifal »

I must confess I expected that much from the very beginning, since the JP80 was touted as a synth which delivers expressive natural instruments. Okay, so my question is: when is Roland going to show us some (any) demos regarding these instruments, by category / name ?

They cannot possibly expect everybody to visit a Roland booth / music store and check the instrument in person. As an added bonus, this is what is usually called "marketing". Isn't Roland in bussiness anymore?

Since it's been a couple of years since Roland's marketing department vanished into the netherworld, you'll have to wait for the instrument to be available for retail.

This is the point where demonstrations videos will start to pop on Youtube, in which the instrument will be horribly played by music store demonstrators (awful jazzy soup anyone ?) recorded with the built-in camcorder's mike directly from the speakers.

For a quite long period, anybody looking for some insights 'bout that board will conclude, on the basis of those fair demonstrations, that it ain't worth a trip downtown to try this at the demonstration floor, and will rapidly dismiss it.

Thus will end the life of the Jupiter 80, before it even started in the first place. When production will stop, a few nice showdowns of its real capabilities will start to rise around, and so will the glorious Jupiter 80 become an e-Bay hit.

Nah, just kidding... It's just another digital synth that will be long forgotten before having any chance to break the charts on eBay.

I am looking forward to seeing more about this and reading the manual. There are launch nights starting in Australia for this next week.

Does the Jupiter 80 come with the same interface than other "supernatural sounds" prevously released by Roland ? I mean, do we get the same interface as this one for instance : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPFaX6k0SO8

?
