Jupiter rack?
Jupiter rack?
So now we have the baby jupiter, is this now one step away from giving us a Rack?
If so what could be the specs on this one?
I mean with what they gave on the 50, they could have just droped the keybed and gone rack dont you think?
Although now that the jp50 is established the rack would have to fit somewhere between or above.
maybe vsynthXT style rack but this time they add a sampler?

Re: Jupiter rack?
Won't happen. Synth racks are dying faster than workstations.
Re: Jupiter rack?
I wouldn't be surprised to see a synthesizer section only version of the Jupiter-80 with a JP-8000/GAIA style control surface down the track though,

Uhm...Chrisk-K wrote:Won't happen. Synth racks are dying faster than workstations.
this (those exact words) is what Korg representatives said while demoing the kronos jsut before it was released.
At the time, it was said with arrogant self-confidence.
Since then,
1) extortionate prices [everybody is called at task here. EVERYBODY. No GOOD synth in the past year has a less than heavy price]
2) awful keybeds [no names please]
and
3) the desire of owning more than one "top synth" [you can't stack a kronos a jupiter and a pc3k or a prophet or You-name-it one of top of the other. You can on the other hand choose one large keyboard and own two or three top-notch modules]
have given pause to many users,
and the requests for racks seem less of an occasional oddity.
So: when the Three Big Ones were feeling overconfident, "no racks, ever" was the Official Party Line.
Now, TODAY, after less than stellar sales, I am not so sure they aren't thinking again about the issue
Re: Jupiter rack?
Don't have room for more keyboards esp more big workstations. My "rack synths" are now software plugins with exception of some old dinosaurs like JD990, FS1R & EX5R. IMO not many folks would pay $2500+ for a Kronos or Jupiter rack module.
Re: Jupiter rack?
I wish Roland would release a Jupiter rack. It would be nice to have the Jupiter sound engine without needing to buy a 76-key keyboard.
Many of us already have too many keyboards.

Uh . . . No such thing!JunoJohn wrote:Many of us already have too many keyboards.
Re: Jupiter rack?
The big three are not overconfident or arrogant. The synth keyboard market is getting smaller and smaller and the rack market is even smaller. There's no money in a rack market. How many would Kronos or Jupiter rack be sold? Less than 500 worldwide. So: when the Three Big Ones were feeling overconfident, "no racks, ever" was the Official Party Line.

Many of us have too little space in our studio.
Many of us have a car that is too small.
Many of us have too few hands to carry gear. (Or not enough friends!)

a unassuming two-units rack can easily be smuggled in as "New intrument? What? Oh, THAT! No no, don't worry: I just had to replace the old reverb unit. I bought one second hand",
while a 88 keys Xmas tree with wooden sidepanels, Trinitron display, and a box the size of Bigfoot's casket,
is guaranteed to cause a credit card statement inspection

Now don't deny it . . . You know who you are!

Re: Jupiter rack?
Blimey! The Jupe Eight Zero with ALL 12 SRX ExP's in one Mod? Can anyone translate what it says in German about the RSS? With a JP-80 already in the Soundworld I was thinking I didn't need any more bloody gear but that "Motional Surround" bit may have just made me a future owner of this thing! I can only imagine how much this one will cost!
Shhhh!! Don't tell the wife!!

Re: Jupiter rack?
"Motional Surround – emerged from Roland's trendsetting RSS (Roland Sound Space) Technology – doesn't just allow the control of the right/left stereo panorama, but also the arranging and moving of sounds in the depth of space, even behind the listener. This is how a three dimensional sound field with impressive depth emerges..."SoundworldA.D. wrote:Can anyone translate what it says in German about the RSS?

Thanks Dany. Stone the bleedin' crows mates! One listen and I'm sure I will be a goner!
Well it looks like I know where some of my bonus check will be going!
