Jupiter 80 with Integra-7

I'm looking to get a Jp80 to use live with my Integra -7.
I want to use Studio sets to change the sounds on the Integra as I change to each song.
I would like to setup the Studio set to use some internal and some external Integra sounds. I could use up to the max. 15 channels for some songs.
I've looked at the manual and if looks like only four channels can be used for a live set.
Not sure I'm understanding the terminology. Could someone explain please. I would like to pre program the bank lsb and msb in the jupiter for the sounds internal and external so I can just change to the next live set for the next song and all is ready on all 15 channels on both jp and Integra. Hopefully transpose, pan, active Key range are also programmable.
Is this possible? If so how many Studio / live sets can be used.

Thanks Mark

I don't remember much about programming the Jupiters right now but if you can set different LSB and MSB numbers to select an external module's sounds, and if you can change the output midi channel in different livesets, I'd assume you'd only be limited by the number of Studio Sets in the Integra, which is 64. But I'm thinking if you can send data like that from the Jupiter you should be able to dial up individual Integra patches as well within livesets, in which case you won't hit a limit other than the number of livesets you can make on the JP.

Thanks Macska.
I'm not looking to use the Integra Studio sets as your right, there's not enough.
I think there's something in the Jupiter which allows external control of the sounds via the midi in the Lives sets but only on 4 channels. Theres something called Registrations but the manual dosent seem to explain them well at all

Hello there,

I am not quite sure what you are trying to do, but if it helps, you can control the integra from the JP by selecting the external page in the JP's Registration menu, you will then see the external control option where you can theoretically control all 16 parts of the Integra, by setting up zones and programme / bank changes to each part. This may become a little complicated though.

An alternative would be to set up zones on the integra, with the sounds you want, whereby the split points would match those you select on the Jupiter and save as a studio set on the Integra. Correspondingly, you would save the Jupiters settings as a Registration which could be seen as its equivalent to a studio set. Next you would set a programme change message in the JP to change only the studio set on the Integra, say on channel 16.

I hope this helps. I control a V synth XT from my JP and although it's not a multitimbral, set up the external control facilities on the JP are more than adequate.

Best regards.

Many thanks. I think I need to use the Registrations. Can I save more than one registration and call it up for different songs with settings for more than four channels. I'm trying to use the Jupiter to change settings in the Integra for each song so it's all in one place for quick setup.

You certainly can. You can save 256 of them and give each a relevant name.
I would suggest you set the Integra to receive studio set programme changes to channel 16 then in the external part Of the registration create a programme change message and set the keyboard zone for that channel to zero. It's not as complicated as it sounds.

You really need to get to grips with the external part aspect of the Jupiter's registrations. There aren't too many options in there, compare to other midi controllers, so it doesn't take long to figure it out. It's best just to apply around with things and as long as you don't press 'write' you won't mess anything up :-).

Hi there, I have just spotted a predictive text error in my last reply. Apply should have read play.

I have been trying hard to program the Jupiter and so far when I change to a new Studio set the MSB and LSB for only Midi channel 1 are changing. If however I change the volume say for channel 2 then the MSB and LSB are updated on the Integra-7

I am wanting to use some sounds from the Jupiter and some from the Integra and some from both but the MIDI doesn't seem to send the MSB and LSB for all channels to the Integra. If this could be done I could program up to 16 different sounds on each and when I change studio sets the Integra-7 could change the sounds.

Hope you understand.
Thanks,

mark

Hello again,

I am not sure why you need to have 16 different sounds at once on the Integra unless you were going to create layers, also you may run out of polyphony.

How are you setting up the Jupiter to control the Integra and are you creating splits on it or layers, within the registration?
