Indeed - confirmation here -> https://www.roland.com/us/products/jupiter-80/

End of an era and the last 'big beast' that was released by Roland. What will come next... who knows; time will tell.

It's a sad day. On one hand I wonder what took them so long. On the other hand I thought they would wait until they had some kind of successor or flagship announced. I guess this is final confirmation that Roland is now all-in on the plastic fantastic generation. If so this will likely be my last Roland. Well, actually I bought an MKS-70 recently, so it's just their newer stuff I'm not thrilled about. The MKS-70 absolutely kills the little JP-08. Roland needs to go back to the future!

I agree. I think we would have seen evidence of a successor by now, made from metal!
I recently acquired an MS50 to go with my 70. I had a look at the RD2000, we're living in the plastic age. I think My Integra will probably be my last new Roland product, sadly. A Juno 6 was the furs in 1982. It's Kult of Kronos for me now.

Feels like this keyboard didn't have much of a product life cycle. They seemed to have abandoned supporting it really after 3 years. Makes you reluctant to drop so much on a new flagship synth from them if they're going to cut product support so short but the Jupiter 80 was a failure. It was priced too high and didn't offer features that it should of came with for the asking price. If Roland did make a new synth I could see maybe some Analong/Digital Cross over loaded with Supernatural sounds in the form of a Fantom or something resurfacing.

Well I guess that's that. Discontinued and now the prices for them have blown up for what ever is left. Thanks Roland. Kronos it is by default.

Why are you blaming Roland? You only had 5-1/2 years to buy one.

I'm not blaming Roland man, I'm just disappointed man... just sad and disappointed. They don't know how to keep a product going at all. They could of easily fixed the complaints about the JP-80 and kept it going but they didn't. They'd rather focus on their ACP analog digital synth crap no one wants. They should take notes from Korg and learn to update their flagships to keep the product line going strong.

and then... man what really ticks me they make the JP-8 Boutique and it you need like 2-3 of them to get poly. They actually market that you buy 2 or 3 of the same unit just to get the full Jupiter sound... what the hell man just make a Jupiter Jr or something and charge 1K for it.

I haven't felt this let down since Alesis stopped making Keyboards.

There is a new JU80 at Armens in NYC for $2900. If you are serious, pull the trigger now. Don't waste time!

I'm a little surprised everything dried up so quickly. GC had a couple used ones I was considering, now all gone. Good luck!

Yeah and people like them are part of the problem. They were asking 2500 to get rid of it before. Hope it falls off the shelf and hits one of their greedy butts in the head.

I bought my JP80 last month for a good price. I really like it. The sound is great, keybed is perfect. 2900$ is ridiculous, though. Regarding complains about Roland's behaviour I have my own opinion

The Jupiter 80 was sold since 2010 (afaik) and did get some pretty big software updates over the years, so imho the unit itself is nothing to complain about. And it will probably run for another 10-20 years unless maybe the big display starts to fail... which would suck.

I don't know. When the Jupiter 8 or other synths came out, they had one firmware in the ROM and that was it. Maybe some bug fixing and period. No new features or improvements. But I remember even at that time people really weren't happy about buying a Juno 6 and then a few month later Roland came out with the Juno 60... :)

It seems that nowadays with iOS apps being updated on a daily basis and MacOS similarly so the expectation is high for musical instruments as well. I do except bugs to be fixed in a device especially if they were delivered in a beta stage. And I do love it when I get a Synth and they provide new features for it, of course.
But I do not take it for granted.

I own the Integra with the iPad Editor, don't use it much. The iPad Editor was a nice gimmick but not more, on the JP80 everything can be done on the device.

Compared to the Kronos, Rolands support for the Jupiter 80 has been miserable. The first Kronos came out about the same time as the JP-80. It came with a full editor and librarian, more to the point, Korg are still supporting it today, for free. That original Kronos is, today, running a much updated operating system, incorporating many user requests, and sounds the same as the latest version in the shops.

By comparisson and despite great demand, Roland have never released a librarian for the JP-80 which is the one thing it is crying out for. The only real O/S upgrade they released - upgrade to O/S 2, was a great upgrade, adding parallel effects routings and extra filter types. After that they seem to have washed their hands of it.

It is a crying shame. The JP-80 is a magnificent instrument and deserved much greater success. I think Rolands reluctance to support it has certainly coloured my opinion of the company. I will not be buying another flagship synth from them.

Still, I love my JP-80 and it brings me great pleasure when using it. It sits adjacent to my Kronos and they are both great instruments.
