Roland D50 buttons not always respond

Post by Revelation »

I bought this keyboard over 25 years ago and have taken good care of it including put a cover over the keyboard when not in use. I recently replaced the internal battery myself with no issues. I left the power on when I changed it so I would not lose the presets. I only touched the battery area while being grounded.

Anyway in the last year, , sometimes when I push the buttons to get different sounds, they don't always respond. I have to push them 2 or 3 times to change. Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve the connections on the buttons?

Hi Relevation,

if those switches tend to not always respond when pressing them I highly recommend to replace them! Those switches are hermetically sealed so using some kind of contact spray wouldn't get you far...

The switches dimensions are 6x6 mm (housing) and must have an overall hight of 5 mm. Here's an example:

They don't cost a fortune. But I recommend to replace them all at once while you're at it!

Hope this helps...
