Hello to the Forum !
Im on the search for an editor for the Roland R-8, which lets me take control over the sounds in real time but also lets me program patterns etc., lets me do the routing and all what is around to do and manipulate, but via the computer on a bigger screen.
Im on MacOs, that might impose some challenges as it seems and what my research brought to surface.
But maybe im a lucky and somebody here has already solved the problematic.
Some Things i found :
-> Patch Base -> https://coffeeshopped.com/patch-base (doesnt have a R8 Template, but seems only to be usable as a ui control overlay)
-> Midi-Quest -> https://squest.com/Products/MidiQuest12/index.html (Super Expensive... sadly, cause it seems it can do everything)
-> https://ctrlr.org -> Has a VST Version and is compared to patch-base open source and freeware but seems also to be a ui controller only no editor
-> https://mountainutilities.eu/r-8 --> Definitely the most streamlined software in all of those and exactly what id need BUT ONLY WINDOWS :(
So what are your thoughts and ideas ?
Greetings !

You could always create a Windows VM and then ensure the VM has passthrough access to your MIDI gear (requires technical knowledge)
Or, set up some old XP/Vista laptop.
Else you gotta fork the dough.
