JX-3P transpose question

Post by MyndJestyr »

Hi,
This is probably a dumb question but what the heck...
I play in a band that tunes down to Eb so that everyone is tuned down a semitone. On the JX-3P, if I tune to Eb using the transpose feature, the entire tuning actually goes way up and all my patches are really high pitched.

On modern synths you can simply transpose down a semitone and everything basically sounds fine without having to reconfigure patches since it's only a semitone.

The tuning knob on the back doesn't quite tune down properly or enough.
Editing the patches to drop the "range" doesn't make the patches sound quite right and/or doesn't bring the tone low enough (if that makes sense?)

Any other ideas? Am I missing something here?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the JX-3P but: press & holding the [KEY TRANSPOSE] button and pressing the appropriate key doesn't work for you?

Check the manual or MIDI implementation chart. It sounds like behavior you'd see with an early MIDI synth. The sound engines didn't respond to the full range and instead would only play a specific voice range. If you transposed up or down an octave the synth would just sound the octave again.
