I have a nearly perfect 20-year-old Roland U-20. I know before long I will have to change the internal battery. I need help in transmitting all internal data to my PC and then restoring later.
I currently also have a M-Audio Midi-sport Uno usb-to-MIDI interface and I have a Sound Patch Editor, which is a software application for the U-20. However, I have no clue as how to get the data from my U-20 to my PC and then back again.
I have the manual, but am still not clear about how to approach this. Is there somewhere there is a step-by-step tutorial that illustrates how to do this?
How Do I Save U-20 Data To PC And Restore Later?

Hello mlochala,
You'll need a sysex recorder program like Bome SendSX or MIDIOX.
Start small with transferring one patch back and forth, this way you know that you have the MIDI set up and working properly.
Rather than re-write the manual, what you need is on page 145 and 146 of the manual found here:
U20 Manual
I had a U-220 for nearly 10 years, the step by step in the manual is as good as it gets.
Cheers, Hanon
