D-50 is sticky on bottom panel

I have a D-50 which I got from an auction on eBay and the bottom panel is sticky or tacky to the touch. Anyone else have this issue? I believe that the paint could be breaking down due to age but I have other synths just as old that do not have this problem. I tried to wash it no luck. I tried WD-40 and that helped for a day next day stickiness came back.
