Hi All,
Just got hold of a D70 (had a one many moons back, and loved it)..
Needs a new backlight - UK-based.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Dan

Re: Roland D70 backlight
I've had my D-70 since 1992. Although the backlight is rather dim (and makes that annoying high-pitched buzz), it still does work.
Other than taking it to a boffin who can replace the light, i found this tidbit on Vintage Synth Explorer. Appears that this bloke just uses an external LED "reading Light" to make do so it seems like the info is still there even without the internal backlight.
Best regards,

Let us know what you find out...mosbrickan, without having your D-70 in front of me to take apart and diganose it's impossible to say but most likely it is the backlight for the display. If you are brave you can pull it apart and simply cut the power line for the backlight, the display will still work it will just need an external light (I use a small led reading light velcro'd to the back of the case). From the work I have done on mine over the years there really does not seem to be a way to get rid of that hum besides killing the light...

You could try here http://www.instrumentalparts.com/blrd70.html
Not sure if there are other options maybe http://www.vintageplanet.nl/
I had mine replaced by a tech when i had mine serviced a couple of years ago, so maybe you could go down that route? It's much better with the backlight.
