D50 - clicking noise with midi connection

Post by jefferis »

I recently had to replace the battery in my D50 and I lost all my legacy Cesium sounds in internal memory. The old Universal Librarian was OS 9 and long gone. So I used my Roland OEM card to replace my internal bank of sounds.

Now, however, every key I press, whether from internal or the card, I'm hearing a click with each stroke IF I have midi cables plugged in, almost as if the click was part of the programming. Any ideas what this might be or how to stop it?

I note that my internal midi controller on Mac Pro 2013 Mojave OS can see the D50, using a USB connection to {midi cable} E-MU EX TAB 1x1. I can send white noise to the D50. I am told that the E-MU doesn’t work with SYX transfers. Maybe the midi cable situation is a problem. If so, anyone recommend any other connections? Neither Patch Base nor MidiQuest software or SysEx Librarian can send anything to the D50 except for white noise. Nor can they receive patch banks or patches.

I can use Logic Pro and GarageBand with the cable without issue.
TIA,
Jeff
