Thought I would start a thread dedicated to NON ROLAND products at NAMM 2004

Is it a computer, is it a keyboard, is it a bird? No it's OpenSynth!

It is indeed.

If you could find out the default admin password you could be truly mischievous in music stores and load windows 3.11 on it

My award for one of the most bizarre products goes to http://www.edirol.com/press/html/2004/011504_p1_pr.html

Photo Presenter
Show photos in time to your music

Now I can use that V-link feature on the FS when folks come round and I want to show them my holiday snaps :-)

Korg's new UK website has just burst into life with all the new NAMM products
http://www.korg.co.uk

e.g.
http://www.korg.co.uk/products/workstat ... ton_ex.asp

But the US one hasn't yet

Has Roland lost its mind? Same goes for this point made by bwoi in the FX thread...

"The only thing that upsets me is the fact that they came out with this new beast and it still doesn't read akai sample formats."

Roland is completely out of touch.

People knock Behringer all the time, but I'll tell ya, they provide features people need at unbeatable price points. Unless something better comes along between now and the "Second QTR 2004" I'll be getting me a BCF2000...

http://www.behringer.com/02_products/b- ... d=2&smid=9

There picture even shows FM7 and Reaktor!!! Wow - if this wasn't meant for me. Motorized faders for probably just over $200!!

Can't tell if it sends user definable sys-ex messages to control the fantom-s yet, though.

Well, I noticed there's a new SRX-10 Board (Brass). Not exactly what I was hoping to see, but probably a good addition to the mix.

Also, on the point of a couple of things I am excited about:

Logic Pro --
http://www.emagic.de/products/PRO/PRO/index.php?lang=EN

All the softsynths/samplers as part of the package for the price of just the sampler. Very nice. No Logic 7 yet, but....wouldn't be surprised if that happens sometime this year.

Korg Legacy Collection --
http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?A_PROD_NO=Legacy

Phil pointed this out to me already. Wavestation, MS-20 and a couple others all in softsynth form. Wavestation HW sysex can be imported, so you can even use your existing patches. Very nice.

I'm still surfing to see what else is out there that's fun and new. Ahh....gearlust!

Cheers,
RW

Space Designer too!

Post by Red Winger »

I just realized that, in addition to all the softsynths samplers, the new Logic Pro also includes Space Designer!!! Holy crap! That's another $300 right there thrown in. And, with the announcemnts of Sculpture, Ultrabeat and Guitar Amp, it sounds like the next version of Logic is going to be even better. I love my Mac. I love my Mac. I love my Mac! :-)
