What synthesizers do you own?
Re: What synthesizers do you own?
@ piaknow.... so no smart media cards huh?
and please don't rub it in... I so kinda (do those words make sense together like that LOL)...
anyway, I so kinda wish I'd bought it from him. I have recently (last 2 weeks or so) acquired an xv-5080 and the SRX drum card (you don't need it do you?), the srx complete orchestra card, and the jv80 vintage synth card.
I love it... but I still like the way those 1080s sound. (plus I have some friends that would have loved to have it... ) I think it all worked out the way it did for a reason (God knew I really wanted the 5080, and he worked it out so that would happen... buying the 1080 would have meant I probably would have stopped looking.
check out the HUGO BASS patch with the modulation wheel turned all the way up!!!! super cool. oh yea, layer it with some synth brass and a nice "belly" electric piano sound... TOO crazy!!!!

Update:Vlad_77 wrote:Currently: (and yes I am a Roland whore)
Fantom X8 w/audio exp. and classic keys SRX
XV-88: God I LOVE this keyboard. I know, no sequencer, only ONE MFX plus chorus and reverb, but, damn, there is just "something" about this axe that I LOVE.
JP-8000: Nurgley, wheez, fat, boom
SH-32: Yes, I know there are MUCH better VAs out there including the non-Roland I will be listing below, but this little module ROARS!!
Juno-106: Yes, it's simple, yes it's really "old", but, again, a love affair.
Kurzweil PC3: Inspiration! And its VA-1, combined with KB3 and Dynamic VAST, 32 layers per patch, 16 independent arps, programmable riffs, and an unlimited track sequencer make this a BAD mutha of a synth. HELL to program though - steepest learning curve I have ever encountered since my old K2000.
Wavestation EX: What can I say? I still love wave sequencing and vector weirdness, and I don't have to emulate it :)
TG-33: Just a fun little guy that when MIDIed to the Wavestation makes some very cool pads.
WANT to own and would sell my soul: V-Synth!!!!!!!!
USED to own and regretting selling them:
K2000: Sure, obsolete with the addition of the PC3, but, still a lot of power.
Oberheim Matrix 6: Why the HELL did I sell it???!!!! ACK
Korg DW-8000: Kevin Moore used to use this and the following on my list. Had some cool lead sounds and easy to program.
DSS-1: Ridiculously heavy, and really impractical, it was my first sampler. BUT, it had this cool ability to draw your own (simplistic) waveforms and use them to build patches. Steve Winwood used the DSS-1 for years.
M1R: I thi9nk that M1s are so old they might be new again. Yep, we heard this one everywhere in those days just like we heard the Triton everywhere some 10 years on. Still a fun module though :)
Sequential Circuits Six Trak: One of the FIRST multitimbral synths and a true analogue. I still remember hitting shift six to tune the oscillators on hot out door gigs. The stack mode allowed you to take six different patches and knock them together for a BIG monophonic lead patch of the apocalypse.
Poly 800: Was my first synth and I should have kept it just for that reason alone. And of COURSE, there are very cool mods for it now. Who knew?
Previously owned but NOT regretting the sale:
Kawai K1-II: It LOOKED cool, but only sounded meh. In fact, I think I liked ONE patch out of it. :)
Roland S-10: ACK, PTOOIE!!!!!!! I mean, Quik Disks??!!!!
Casio CZ-1000: Ummmm, I think I was tripping when I bought it.
Just added Kronos
Looking for a home for a really nice Wavestation EX since it is redundant now with Kronos. So, if anybody is interested in a Wavestation EX let me know. It really was/is one of Korg's great keyboards!!

Vlad

Re: What synthesizers do you own?
Hello All,
Here in 2011 I'm down to the following:
Roland D-50 w/PG-1000
Roland D-70
Korg M3-88
Korg Radias-R
Nord Stage Ex "that kind of counts as a synth"
Down from this in 2002
I guess this doesn't really matter.
This thread isn't called "What synths DID you own" ;)
Cheers, Hanon

Re: What synthesizers do you own?
lol yeah - apparently the previous previous owner had 2 101s and chopped the keyboard off one to make space...JunoJohn wrote:Half of a SH-101?A Cat Named Roland wrote:Roland SH101 x 1/2
I control it with the MC202 to get an extra osc, and use the other features that are different to the 202 like the noise source.
Re: What synthesizers do you own?
Talk about Xtreme customization. Would love to see a picture of the result.

I have a picture of it with the 202s somewhere. I'll upload it when I find it :)Rodan wrote:Talk about Xtreme customization. Would love to see a picture of the result.

EDIT: Hmm seems I can only grab the thumbnail off Facebook on my tablet. Why is Facebook so dire on mobile devices :( Will get it when I'm on the laptop.
Here is a picture of my half a SH101 with my MC202s :)

Re: What synthesizers do you own?
Yes. Very clean, nice job.
Re: What synthesizers do you own?
Adding a Radias rack. I realize that with Kronos it is redundant to an extent, but, I sense insane possibilities MIDI'ing to the X8 or PC3.
Re: What synthesizers do you own?
Added a K2000RS after finding a SWEET deal for 300.00 USD. I realized that as powerful as the PC3 is, there were some things missing in the PC3 that I wanted. I used to own a K2000 and sold it , thinking it would be redundant with a PC3. Man was I wrong.
Now if I could find a SCSI drive I would be quite happy. But I don't know how to interface a SCSI with a USB PC. Any ideas folks?
Ahimsa,
Vlad
