Finding DR-880 desktop icon

In trying to connect the DR-880 to Win 7 and Win XP I have successfully installed the drivers on both machines (or so it would seem) but now I find no way to access the DR. There's no desktop icon. And it doesn't show up in the My Computer list. It does show up in the device manager.
If I bounce the laptop against the wall, would that get the desktop icon to appear?
