I'm a new owner of a XV-5080. It comes without a SCSI HDD. I've been looking around the web, and I see a lot of talk about using an External SCSI Card Reader with Compact Flash instead of a HDD.
There is a company that sells these products and claims they will work with any SCSI sampler, specifically naming the XV5080.
They are SCSIforSamplers.com
