Roland XV 5080 Screen Problem

A friend of mine has a xv 5080 and he says there is a vertical line going straight down the screen. It just appeared. It's not making a problem or anything... it doesn't disturb you while you work... it doesn't bother anything. But it is still there. Has anyone seen a problem like this before and do you have any suggestions as to how to fix it.

I called Roland today and they said a replacement LCD screen (directly from them) would cost $227.50 The real bad thing about it is that if that doesn't fix the problem, you can't return the part. (So you may be stuck with it)....

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
