Replacing The Floppy Drive In JV-50

Post by JonnyJ »

Hello all I just bought a JV-50 with a broken Floppy Drive and was wondering if its possible to use a standard floppy drive to replace the original? I have several pc floppy drives. So far I have tried two that don't appear to do anything. The original floppy drive is a Chinon 357 which appear on eBay and elsewhere occasionally. The original drive powers on but just keeps spinning and the lcd screen continues to say insert disk. Its possible that there is another problem concerning the drive so before I start buying another I thought I would check to see if anyone has replaced a JV-50 drive or upgraded theirs with one of the newer usb drive emulators that you can get for a variety of modern keyboards. A friend of mine upgraded his Karma synth with one successfully.
