XP-80: sustain the sound longer?

Post by hatricklov »

I'm playing a performance sound composed of 3 different pedal steel patches from the Country Collection card. I have a song where I'm trying to replicate a sound by:

1. Starting with the volume down to nothing.
2. Playing the note and applying the sustain/hold pedal.
3. Applying modulation with the pitch bend for a distortion-type effect and simultaneously bringing up the volume.

By the time I get the volume up, the patch is starting to fade! I need to hold this note for a few measures at a substantial volume. Any ideas to help me 'stretch' the hold/sustain?

You need to adjust the sustain part or the TVA envelope and/or the TVF envelope on the tones that are sustaining sound.
Roland calls this Level 3.
Lifting this may mean you need to match the Time 4 to Time 3

Thanks for the pointers, I'll look at tweaking those items and see what results I get. Thanks again! :D
