XP-50 output problem (Volume)

Hi!

After I found excellent help for repairing my XP-50 display, I hope I can get some more help concerning a problem with the main / headphone output.
The left main out and left channel of headphone out shows less level than the right.
If I plug out one channel, the active channel gets louder too.
As my XP-50 is rather old I assume this can again be related to dryed out "caps"?

I moved the volume slider up and down many times (corrosion?) but it did not change, and the slider does also not produce any noise, so the poti seems to be working.

Any information and help is highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Regards
Obsolet

Hi Obsolet,

The problem may be on caps that are on the audio path, coming from DA converter to op-amps output. You should try to replace that caps, following the service manual schematics. Also, here are some useful information form user mtl777:

Good luck!

Sorry for the late response! Have you got this solved?

You have to replace both SMD capacitors that are right next to the audio outs. If watching the board with outputs facing you, these two caps are on the left side, one next to the other less than inch from audio jack.

In fact my advice is to replace all the electrolytic caps there, since i found many of them to be dry! Be careful when de-soldering SMD stuff. I damaged a few contacts because i pulled them too much.

My unit had exactly the same problem, BTW.

I've got a similar problem on my XP50..It seems that the right channel is working only thru the phones output. Also when i plug the R out of the synth the right channel does not play from both the phones and the main.
