XV-88 patch edit

Hi all,
My name's Patrick, I'm new to the forum - owner of an XV-88 keyboard and a TD-9 drum kit :)
I've spent most of the afternoon messing around editing a patch, and I need some help, please. I've added a new tone to a patch, but can't seem to get the palette controls on the left side of the keyboard to apply to the newly added tone. When the "level" button is lit, I can control the level of the new tone, but when the "filter/env" button is lit, the cutoff only applies to the pre-existing tones. Any help/advice people could offer would be fantastic - the new tone I added was white noise, by the way.

Never mind, I worked it out. I had to apply a filter in the "TVF" menu. The number of possibilities in this thing makes my head hurt!
