Arpeggiator problem

Post by Alp »

Good day, I am new here.
I bought a used roland xp-30 about 2 weeks ago.
I knew nothing about it at the time, I had the owner play a few features and it seemed to work fine.

A few days ago I tried the arpeggiator. Nothing. No sound.
I was sure it was settings so I downloaded the manual and checked it today.
As far as I can tell I have a broken xp-30 arpegiator.
I then used the following instructions found in the roland XP-30 turbo PDF...

Use the following procedure to select a synth bass
Patch and a slap bass arpeggiator pattern:
1) Press PATCH so it is lit.
2) Press ARPEGGIATOR so it is lit.
3) Hold CATEGORY and press BASS.
4) CURSOR RIGHT to select “SBS.”
5) Press ENTER.
6) Turn the VALUE dial left to display “Tech NoBase.”
7) Press SYSTEM.
8) Press EDIT so it is lit.
9) Press 2/10 to select the ARPEGGIO edit page.
10) Use the VALUE dial to select “SLAP BASS B.”
11) CURSOR DOWN to select “MOTIF.”
12) Use the VALUE dial to select “TOP+UP 5.”
13) Hold down a chord on the keyboard to listen to the selected
arpeggio pattern.

Still no sound at all.
Does anyone have anyu ideas as to what could be wrong other than a broken circuit in the keyboard???

Thanks
Alp

BTW, the keyboard DOES make sound, just not in arpeggio mode.

Success!

I found how to do a factory reset before I opened it up to look for leaky caps.
The reset worked.

Arpeggiator is now arpeggiating.
