JD-990 DAC trimmer can't adjust far enough

Hello. Is there a typical bad component when the trimmer for the Jd990 cannot eliminate the "crunchy" noise tails to the sounds? It is as if the trimmer doesn't go quite far enough, so that leads me to believe a component involved is failing. Thanks.
