Roland XV-5050 don't respond to midi signal

Post by AkRo »

Hi everyone. Thank you for a great forum. Im new here and would appreciate som help with my XV5050.
Ive been using this modul for a while and had a break for changing studio. So its been unplayed for couple of month. Yesterday I tried to reconnect everything but suddenly the XV will not recieve any midi signals at all. My equipment is Artruria midi keyboard sending Midi out to Midi IN to XV with midi cable. I also tried to send with my Yamaha CP 88 no answer. I reset everything in XV and my Arturia midikeyboard nothing happened. Very strange.
Is there any prefrences in the menu in XV5050 that could change it.
I also tried with USB cable via Mac and logic. The XV will not respond at all. I dont understand.
It would be awesome if someone could give me som tricks.

Untill then I wish you all a happy new year and Rock On.
Regards

I presume you've done a Factory Reset?

XV-5050: Initialising the XV-5050 - Restoring the Factory Settings

Press UTILITY so it is lit.
Cursor LEFT to the upper left portion of the display.
Rotate the VALUE dial to display "FACTORY RESET."
Press ENTER.
If "WRITE PROTECT" is displayed, use the VALUE dial to select "OFF" and. press ENTER.
Press ENTER to finish.

After that try changing the LCD contrast from 3 to another value, save and power off for 10 secs, power on, and check that the LCD contrast is defaulting to the new value.

If so, then the flash memory is work ok to save.
XV-5050: Saving System Settings

[From Roland website]

Use the following procedure to save your system settings:

1. Press SYSTEM so it is lit.

2. Press UTILITY so it is lit.

3. Press ENTER to save the current settings.

NOTE: If "WRITE PROTECT Internal: ON" is displayed, turn the VALUE Dial to change the setting to OFF. Then press ENTER.

4. Press ENTER again to save the settings.

1st tip: try using a different MIDI cable.

2nd tip: use the XV-5050's test mode to test the MIDI In and MIDI Out connectors. See "Roland XV-5050 Service Notes".
