(I also made a related post in the MC-707 forum since I noticed the issue when playing a JV-1010 from the MC-707.)
I have an MC-707 connected to a JV-1010 as a "chord machine" to avoid voice stealing issues on the MC-707. When I send program change with a clip, the first two 16th notes don't transmit proper velocity information to the JV-1010 but only RIGHT after starting the clip. Once the clip loops, it's fine. Presumably because program change is only sent when the clip is first started. When I remove program change from the clip and just manually dial in the correct sound on the JV-1010 this does NOT happen. Is this a known JV-1010 issue? Does it need "extra time" after receiving a program change before the sound can be reliably played? So far I had assumed this is a MC-707 problem BUT of course it could also be specific to the JV-1010 instead. Any JV-1010 owners have any experience with this?
JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
Re: JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
Never mind, I guess it IS a well-known issue of the JV-1010 after all: https://gearspace.com/board/electronic- ... issue.html
Re: JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
It just takes a little time for the synth engine to instantiate a change of Patch (Program), Tones 1 - 4 or EFX type.
50ms usually works for the first two, EFX requires a little longer like 80ms so get your DAW to send a Program Change at least 50ms before sending the first Note message should do the trick.

Re: JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
Yep, sadly I use an MC-707 exclusively and there's no "send the program change before starting the clip" feature. What I did so far is I made separate clips that just have the program change, no MIDI information, and I set those to "play" before I switch to the actual clip. Works, but it also means I always need to have a break between two different patches from the JV-1010 and I lose a few clips to just do program changes. Sorta works but I wish I didn't need the workaround. Apparently the XV-2020 doesn't have the issue so I am currently looking for one of those at a reasonable price.

What part of the world are you in?
Re: JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
Germany. Do you have a spare XV-2020 lying around? :-D
Re: JV-1010 Program Change Issue?
Yes and I'd gladly swap it for a JV-1010. Unfortunately I'm in Australia.

Darn it! :-D
