JP8000 is going nuts

Post by Synthia »

My JP8000 is behaving strange. It changes all patches and performances on it's own.First it plays fine for about a minute then it screws up big time. All sounds go raving mad.
I changed the internal battery and it seems better now.
I wonder if someone else here has had problems with nutty JP8000's?

jp8000 has been out long enough that the battery may well have been the whole problem. when you say it 'seems' 'better' does that mean you hope it doesn't screw up anymore or has it actually done so since replacing battery?

It's really strange.I changed the battery, done a factory reset and it still played up.Then I switched the thing off and on again it seems ok so far.
Have you got a JP8000 yourself?
The stupid thing keeps editing itself.I choose a patch or performance,it plays it fine for a minute or so then changes without me touching anything.Normally when I move a slider or knob a little star appears in the display, showing that the patch has been edited, but on mine the star appears from nowhere.I haven't even touched a slider or knob and the crazy thing changes anyway.

I had an 8000 for a while a couple years ago.
My jx-8p got a new battery about 8 years ago and I'll get another new one for it pretty soon (before any actual problems).
check 'Higher Plane' from my website: bobladelfa.com
You might recognize a 'wash' - type sound from the jp-8000.
btw, does 'played up' mean act strangely? Bob

The JP8000 is acting strange again, changing sounds and sounding stupid.
Any idea what could cause this?

JaxxXR,
You are right,I do think my place is haunted now.
This morning the joystick of my JP8000 stopped working. It's completly dead.
I took the whole thing apart and everything looks fine,no loose connection etc.I'm getting worried now.
Even the Roland guys can't understand what's wrong with it.
The keyboard is well looked after etc.
I just can't understand it.

I managed to fix the JP8000.I did a diagnostic test and all the settings were restored.Somehow all bender settings were lost or screwed up.
The joystick works again:)
