Power supply HELP!

I've just bought a used jp8000 and not sure if I can plug it into a EU power socket?
The actual power socket on the synth has 240v stamped on it but the Voltage written on the synth details where the model and serial are, says 117v.
So is the power supply auto switching between 110-240v or is it 110v and I have to get a transformer because I'm in Europe and on 240v?
Please see attached pics

Please help!

Hi there,

the answer is: NO, you can't use this synth on 230 Volts! The voltage stamped to the identification plate is relevant - this synth operates with 117 volts.

The 'values' you see while looking at the power jack are the maximum ratings that the jack can be used with (as prescribed by its manufacturer)!

If you connect that gear to 230 volts you will sure blow the built-in power supply - if not more...!

Either you'll need a variable transformer (230 Volts AC in/117 Volts AC out) and connect the synth to it or you may look for a replacement internal psu which is meant to be operated with 230 Volts...

Take care,
Miks

@ aum7:

WAIT!

Maybe there's a very simple solution for your problem!!!

Can you provide us with a good sharp picture of your JP-8000's power supply?

The solution may be a simple swap of ONE wire...

Miks, can you tell more? I also have a US made JP8000, and the problem is that it generates ridiculous amount of heat. I wonder if swapping it for the correct voltage would help.

Hi Noteman,

where are you located (will say: what mains voltage is provided by the wall socket)?
