Backup file confusion

I really, really hope that someone in this group can assist me with my problem.
I know that only one backup file can exist on a flash drive. When I insert the drive into m Macbook Pro, I see the file that is named Roland and in that file are the other files associated with the backup. What I want to do is create a folder that I can put any and all backup files that I create. Am I understanding this correctly, that I cannot rename the file as it needs to be named Roland for it to be successfully restored in my 50? What I need to do is name my files in the folder I created with a name and a date so I know what specific file I want to load back into my Jupiter.
Can someone/anyone PLEASE provide me with any and all suggestions on how this needs to be done?
