How to use a Yamaha FC7 expression foot pedal with Roland Jupiter 50/Jupiter 80

The general consensus is that the Yamaha FC7 expression pedal is better quality than the Roland EV-5 pedal and has more throw length, giving finer control of aftertouch or whatever is assigned to it.

However the polarity is different for the Yamaha FC7 so it won't work correctly with Roland keyboards without an adapter. Apparently it still won't work correctly even if you change the polarity using a software setting. There was an adapter called the FC7X-II which was custom made for a few years but stopped being made in 2016.

There is another solution by connecting a couple 1/4" mono to 1/4" stereo adapters, and reversing the stereo L+R plugs when connecting them together:
