i'M A BIT NEW TO THIS SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.
i'M TRYING TO CONTROL THE MASTER VOLUME OF MY INTEGRA FROM A PCR-800 MIDI CONTROLLER
I ALSO WANT TO SELECT A STUDIO SET NUMBER FROM THE PCR-800.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE MIDI STRINGS I NEED TO SEND TO DO EITHER OF THESE THINGS.

BETTER STILL ARE THERE ANY PCR CONTROL MAPS FOR INTEGRA-7 ANYWHERE ?
midi commands to integra-7
Re: midi commands to integra-7
Hello Emmerson, Both those commands are dealt with in the Integra-7 MIDI guide, which is available on the web. Unfortunately IMHO it isn't the clearest document in the world in places, but the information is there. Once you get to grips with it, it's the 'bible' so it's worth persevering.
Master Volume is a system exclusive message, and is clearly defined byte by byte on page 6. Note that both hex and decimal number presentation is involved, if you aren't familiar with this you need to be.
Studio set selection is covered on page 1, it requires a bit of careful reading and interpretation. Firstly, this command needs to be issued to a specific MIDI channel, AFAIAA - and on my system - it is channel 16, that can be changed. It consists of two bank select messages and one control change message.
BnH 00 mm where mm = 55H
BnH 20H mm where mm = 0
CnH ss where ss = studio set number - 1
A bit of careful googling brings up explanatory material that I've found helpful. There's also some info at the back of the guide that covers the details of formatting sysex messages, including header information and checksum generation. However, whether you can get into that sort of thing will depend on how flexible your controller is.

In fact Master volume is a SysEx message and you will find it much better to control each part's volume (should say MIDI channels volume) using the PCR's Sliders. I can give you some tips later when I'm at home in front of my PCR.
It is very easy to change the studio sets by using the PCR. You can do it in several ways. More on this later
I can share my PCR maps
Bear with me

OK P-Man, I've got a spare set from my old Ford Escort van; he might as well have it.
Of course you know I didn't mean any harm, bro'. [wink]
