Calling PauloF !!! :)

Post by MC909 »

Hi man.

I thought I'd ask you directly as you have the same audio interface as I do.

With a digital cable connected from my Integra to the 18i8 I am hearing soft popping sounds in the audio I am playing from the integra. This doesn't happen with analogue inputs just with spdif.

On the integra I have set the sample rate to match the 18i8. The Integra is set to master and have tried to set the 18i8 to spdif in the source sync settings. But it won't let me select spdif ...It always goes back to the internal setting.
Also whenever I open the scarlet mix control I lose all sound from the integra.
I use ableton as my DAW.

This is driving me nuts.

What settings are you using ?

Hi 909,
From what you say you did already this...
"From the MixControl, when you click on the Sync Source, can you switch between S/PDIF and Internal setting?

Question: What is your computer Operating System and version?

I would check:
- On the i-7, Menu, System, Setup, check if USB Driver= VENDER (MIDI+AUDIO)
- The Scarlett USB Driver version or even reinstall it
- (Maybe a dumb suggestion...) Make sure you startup i-7 before powering the 18i8, so the Digital clock is stable before the 18i8 can read it.
- Make sure the Sample Rate is the same on both devices

That is what I can think of right now

Hope this solves it
If not, let me know

YEAHHHHHH! !!!!

Thank you so much. You just gave me the final piece of the puzzle I needed.

Everything else seemed okay apart from the usb driver setting in the integra.
I set it to vended (midi + sound) and that seemed to have worked.
No more little popping noises.
Although I'm still not quite sure How this helped. I thought this setting was to use the integra itself as a audio interface.

The only t ruble I have now is losing sound from my Integra whenever I open Scarlett mix control.

Thanks again PauloF. You have been a big help.

I'm glad that the problem is solved for you, but really there was no logic on the seeting as VENDER (MIDI+AUDIO) as that refers to the integra when used as AUDIO interface, as you mentioned...

However, maybe the reboot that you did to the i-7, solved the issue :-)

In the computer world, a good reboot solves a lot of things when there is nothing else to do!

It's me again lol.

I seemed to have messed up some settings in the mix control - stupid me.
I can't get sound from ableton and my integra out at the same time.

I would be ever so grateful if you could tell me what setting I need to use....

Here is a pic of how I have things.

Sorry to be a pain :(

Well... that is a little bit more difficult as I don't master Ableton Live...I just have the Live9 Lite, but as it is too basic for me, I don't use it

But my MixControl configuration looks like this for the MIX1 tab, which is the only one I use (on MIX3, 5 and 7 all INPUTSs are muted except on MIX3 INPUT 1/2 that I use sometimes when I want to use the MOXF as the main AUDIO card, but it doesn't matter for this example).

My DAWs are Presonus Studio One 3 Professional, Reaper 5.11 and Garageband and all work perfectly with this config.

Just to note Scarlett INPUTS and OUTPUTS are assigned this way:
INPUTS:
1/2 --> MOXF6
3/4 --> integra OUT "C" (5/6) - Basses
5/6 --> iO-Dock - (iPad)
7/8 --> integra OUT "D" (7/8) Mixed with DR-3 Drum Machine
9/10 --> integra Digital OUT (S/PDIF)

OUTPUTS:
A OUT --> to Amplifier(s)
HP01 OUT --> My Main OUT (to Headphones)
HP02 OUT --> MIX 3 OUT - to MOXF Audio IN

You're absolutely right, Mix Control is not the easiest thing to understand, specially if you use several MIX tabs for allowing different mixes...

cheers,
