Just bought a used Integra 7 to give my keyboard player a greater sonic vocabulary. But the nice drum kits got me wondering. Is there a way to use a set of electronic pads and cymbals as triggers and hook them up to he Integra 7.
Basically what I would want to do is trigger the drum sounds with an e kit rather than keys on a midi controller. For a couple of hundred bucks I can find three or four used Roland mesh pads, a cymbal or two and a hi hat. But how do I get them all plugged into a single midi in?
I suppose I could buy a cheap used "brain" (say a TD 10 or something) and send its midi out to the Integra 7's midi in. But I was hoping there was a way to do this without having to buy anything more than the pads and cymbals.
Ideas?.

You will need to buy a drum brain of some sort. The individual drum pads and cymbals do not send MIDI data, but just electronic signals. The brain converts those (analog) signals into MIDI (digital).
