Hi Friends!
Yesterday I tried to import one tone from EXP.
I tried this in two ways:
1. Load EXP in FA, write PCMS-tone in User Memory, then load another EXP and my saved tone is not playable, because it was saved without waveforms, I believe;
2. Loaded EXP in FA, write tone in User PCM, then backup FA on SD-Card, load another EXP, import my tone from FA Backup and my saved tone is not playable again, because it was saved without waveforms, I think.
Please tell me, how can I take any tone with waveform from any EXP and how can I build something like my own EXP in the memory of FA? I did it at my Yamaha Motif XS and I had my own banks with sounds from many other banks!
Or maybe we must wait any software to do it...
How can I import one tone?

Re: How can I import one tone?
Like on the Motifs you can save any Tones to any USER banks, in the FA even those which are coming from a EXP. But remember, when you discard the EXP from the FA, the waves are no longer available. And they cannot stored in memory or SD. So the tone will not sound.
Own EXP are not possible (search the forum, we discussed this earlier).

Re: How can I import one tone?
So, maybe it's possible to save one tone with waveform from any uploaded EXP to SD or USB or import just one tone from EXP? It's easy to do on Motif XS.bennyseven wrote:Like on the Motifs you can save any Tones to any USER banks, in the FA even those which are coming from a EXP. Re: How can I import one tone?
Sorry I tried to explain, maybe not understandable.
Motif is a sampler with flash memory. FA is not a sampling keyboard, but has up to two EXP boards with waves and tones on it.
You cannot import EXP tones to Motif (unless you sample them). You cannot import waves into the synth engine on the FA.
Some things are easy on other synths and for that we pay much more. FA is comparable with MOXF, not Motif XS which itself is comparable with Fantom G. Always good to check the spec before buy.

Re: How can I import one tone?
It is not possible to import or export single sounds on the Fa - we need an OS update from Roland to be able to do that.
Further - it is not possible to import waveforms from the EXPs.
However, you can 'fudge it'. Depending on the waveform there may be ones like it on the FA (obviously not things like the ethnic waveforms).
If you dig into an EXP sound you like, have a look at the waveforms it uses. If it's say strings or synth you might be able to do something with it. So if you write the sound you like, you will be asked to save it to a user slot. Now go to the waveforms screen - Select INT-A. You can now scroll through the available FA waveforms - the settings will be that of the EXP sound you liked but using the FA waveforms. Play around with it - you can great results using this technique.

Maybe You don't understand me, because my English is so bad, sorry about this :-(bennyseven wrote:Sorry I tried to explain, maybe not understandable.

I will try to explain one more time as I can:
I don't need to import tones from EXP to Motif and I don't need to import my own waveforms to FA-06!
I want to import one tone from EXP (which on my USB stick) to my Roland FA-06, only one tone (with waveforms), I don't want to upload full EXP in my memory for just one tone that I need.
Or another way: I want to export any tone, that contains waveforms from uploaded EXP, to USB stick or SD card, then replace this EXP with another EXP and then import my tone (with waveform) back to User Memory.
And there are nothing about this in specs or user's manual.

Thank You! So we will wait for this possibility!cello wrote:It is not possible to import or export single sounds on the Fa - we need an OS update from Roland to be able to do that.

Ha-ha, I need exactly ethnic tone from EXP-03 "New Shakuhachi" :-)cello wrote:

Thanks again, I will try to do something ;-)cello wrote:
