"Classic" Roland Sounds on FA

Post by TheSuperNova »

Hi all, new to the clan forum

I'm thinking of getting an FA for emulating classic sounds of yesteryear. Most FA owners on here are pretty happy with their FA, but the sounds I'm looking for are a little particular. Does the FA have the classic MKS sounds (Piano 1, 2 and MKS EP 2)? I may need this as I may have to cover some old church/gospel songs. I thought I'd get an FA as I could look to use it more in the future, but then again, with the new 2019 Fantom having coming out, I wonder if I should just stay put and wait for their next FA equivalent using the new Fantom technology.

Super,

The sound list can be found here. I didn't see the MKS but I did see an MK-80 EP. I'm sure you could find something that would work for you:

Good luck!

In addition to the sound list link given above, the FA can have 2 (of 11) EXP packs installed at any one time.

The EXP packs are available at: http://axial.roland.com/category/fa-06_fa-07_fa-08/

E.g. EXP-05 for the Electric Piano collection

There are sound list PDFs in each of the expansion pack downloads.

It's also possible to import individual Integra-7 sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwF36wsH688

Back in the Roland XV era, the SRX-07 sounds had a lot of sounds that were truly useful in real covers band scenarios, even though they did not necessarily impress if you listed to them standalone. These ended up in the current EXP-02 band which can be used with the FA-06/07/08.

Note: ignore the fact that the old SRX-07 card was called "Ultimate Keys". A more accurate name would have "really useful stuff that sounds unexceptional at first".

Back in the Roland XV era, the SRX-12 card had Roland's best EP sounds. These ended up in the current EXP-05. The EP sounds in the EXP-05 are much better than those in the EXP-02.
