Guys, unless anyone is looking at getting a universal solution for this i'll try and get something running with php and a linux web server i have, you will be able to do it via a web page on any type of computer then.

Bare with me, as i'm quite busy with other things, but will look into it- if anyone else is doing this please let me know and i won't be wasting my time.

I am willig to make a 'universal custom screensaver' for us. Because of the many pictures for a video sequence I recommed kind of a slide show screensaver consisting of let's say 20 pictures.

What maybe Roland related pictures would you like to have?
If the forum rules will allow, I suggest to post your pictures and I will collect them and build up our screensaver.

Please remember the picture size or aspect ratio ata the beginning of this thread (480 x 272 pixels).

Cheers,

I am a Mac user also interested in being able to create custom screen savers for my FA-08.
My Name, Band Logo, abstract art, etc. would be very cool indeed :-)
Thanks and gratitude to the folks who started this, and whomever can move this onto the Mac platform.
Jam on!

I just made my own custom screen saver as I really needed something minimalistic and "ambientish" and as I didn't find anything suitable that I liked myself.

Demo: https://vimeo.com/222273524

Instructions:

1. Take your Roland SD card out and insert into your computer.
2. Download the attachment file (0001.BIN.zip).
3. Unzip the file
4. Copy 0001.BIN to your Roland SD card into the directory called "Roland/FA/SCREEN SAVER".
5. Insert your Roland SD card back into Roland FA 06 / FA 08 keyboard.

I hope you like it like i do. :)

What kind of BIN file are these saved in? Any extractors for this file type on sourceforge?

My question is more down to BIN being a reasonably common file format, but not sure if Roland use a custom variant of this (i.e. a different format renamed to .BIN). For those with Linux does this script also unpack other BIN files Roland uses?

The answer to both questions is no. The .bin file here is a custom format which contains the raw image sequence.

You cant unpack other files with the tools.

The way i created the screensaver:

1. Setup my raspberry pi with Raspbian and installed the needed tools.
2. Downloaded a free movie loop
3. Converted the loop to png images
4. Launched the converter script from fuxoft
5. Copied the .bin to the correct folder on the sd card.

So, as of today, there has not been a utility made to create customized Screensavers?
(in windows format?)
Is this a safe assumption?
