Free FA Overlays from Roland
Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
I got mine in Israel. Had to talk to local dealer - and they only asked for the serial number of the Keyboard (and did not care that I did not even bought the keyboard directly from them). Took 2 weeks to get shipped to the store and I had to get them from there.
+1 to Roland for not making a fuzz about this and just shipping against a serial number (and patch v2. I do understand it's not trivial).
-1 to the local dealer - the overlays were mounted (not glued) into a display unit.

What's the advantage of the Overlays? Is it just to protect the surface?
Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
They are matt so don't reflect e.g. music stand lights and a much better contrast to read. Also cover the scratches!Hoifle wrote:What's the advantage of the Overlays? Is it just to protect the surface?
Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
I once cleaned the surface with a wrong cloth and now the surface is scratched. As I see this - this is a build defect, and I see these overlays as a "recall" as we see in cars. They found a defect in the equipment, and are fixing it for all customers.Hoifle wrote:What's the advantage of the Overlays? Is it just to protect the surface?

Thanks for posting this email address - I wrote to them a few days ago asking for an overlay and it arrived today. I can now see what the hell I am doing! What a relief.

Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
I contacted Roland CE and they send me a order reference for my dealer but he is trying to charge me 49 euro for it.
I told him it should be free because its a designerror of the device.
Is he trying to rip me off?

They are free, so yes.
Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
I emailed RCM.parts@roland.com back in June about this, but never got a response.
How can I get this in Canada?

Email your Roland servicecenter. They will give you a reference which you can give your dealer to order the free overlays

Re: Free FA Overlays from Roland
For what it's worth, I just got my new FA-07 yesterday, and it included the overlays as part of the standard materials shipped in the box. One of the overlays included mention of the 2.0 upgrade.
