Select song

Post by BenRoland »

So is the only way to select a song, by pressing Select Song button and scrolling the list? Can this be an auto midi signal sent from an iPad and "set list maker". And what MSB,LSB etc setting would it be? Searching everywhere for info on this :(

I didn't find anything related to Songs in the MIDI Implementation document to select Songs via MIDI messages.

Perhaps a workaround:

Export your songs as MIDI files and load them in an app on your iPad that can play MIDI files back to your FA.
And it's probably wise to include a bulk dump in those MIDI files (Studio Sets, Tones) so your songs play back with the exact Studio Sets and Tones.

Another workaround is to create a unique Song slot with several songs inside in sequence, and you can use an external MIDI app to set the song position to play.

That's a neat trick because you can indeed use the Song Position Pointer via MIDI to jump to a specific location within that file (aka another song)

But I'm not really sure if it's also practical to use because within that 'master' MIDI file, al songs will be played one after the other automatically, unless you manually stop that sequencer/app. If only you could embed a 'stop' message in a MIDI file but such MIDI-message does not exist.

There's a MIDI command to start and stop song on FA MIDI Spec. You can check if this command in a song will make FA to stop playing.
