The demo sounds good!
€ 75,- is a reasonable price I think.

I agree; good price point.

Here's the instrument map for the new TR-8 expansion...

Nice table!

I did the update to version 1.11.
Some nice enhancements.

A welcome addition but quite overpriced. $50. USD would be the maximum ammount with a lower amount ensuring most buyers would definitely purchase. I hope it works out for Roland.

FYI, I took the plunge over the holidays and think it is a very worthwhile addition to the TR-8. The 707 drums are some of my favorite and the new 909 kick is excellent. All the percussion sounds add considerably to the versatility of this machine.

Now if I can just get the save and restore patterns and kits to save to my computer working.

The 7x7 page on Roland's site claims there are new flam and accent settings:

"Unique flam and accent behaviors of the TR-909 and TR-707, with adjustable flam intensity and two levels of accent."

Can someone please tell me how this works? New button combos or something?

Does the new kit come with a manual?

Thanks!

Flam works by holding down the TR-Rec button and pressing any button while a drum is selected. A really great addition for making experimental beats.

Ok, I purchased the update and have a couple of questions:

1. Flam is cool, but typically I would want to use it for a lighter hit immediately before the full hit, instead of two rapid hits of equal velocity. Has anyone found a way to do this?

2. Is effects per instrument possible? Also accent per instrument?

Assign Effects to Specific Sounds
If you are in Kit Select mode, hold down the “Step” button in either the delay or reverb section. While you hold down that button you can now see which instruments are being effected as they are lit up. Press the button corresponding to the instrument that you want to turn on/off and you can choose exactly which sounds will be effected.

I will probably get the expansion one day. Right now I am still learning/playing the the TR-8 the way it is. It would be nice if there was a list of all of its functions and the button presses. The small map like manual does not have all of them does it? BTW The table provided here was great with the different instruments.

If anyone is interested, I created a version of the 7x7 TR-8 manual that can be printed off at Staples on 11"x17" paper. It was only $0.89 for a colour copy! Definitely worth it.

See attached .pdf.
