MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
I am currently using the MX-1 as a stand alone mixer without a laptop. I hooked up my Jupiter 80 to the MX-1 using a coaxial S/PDIF 75 Ohm RCA cable type, and I am not getting any sound. The MX-1 is setup as a digital input. The Jupiter 80 manual said the digital output sends the same signal as the other outputs. What am I doing wrong?
Re: MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
Is there another piece of gear you could try that has a digital coax out that you could plug into your MX-1? That way you could see if it's an issue with your MX-1 or if it's a setting on your Jupiter

Re: MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't have any other gear that uses digital output to test t he MX-1. I have a feeling it may be a setting in the Jupiter 80. However, I I dont see anywhere in the system settings or the owners manual to change output settings to the digital output. Does anyone use the digital output on the Jupiter 80?

Is the mx-1 set to mixer mode or external mode

Its on the default mixer mode "niH" setting. I have aira gear in all 4 usb slots and this mode I am able to use it as a stand alone mixer without a laptop. I tried to turn to Ext mode, but I do not get any sound from any of the outputs in this mode.

EDIT: resolved: changing the sample freq to match the coax input did the trick...

Thanks Marc,I also sent an e-mail to roland, I will keep everyone informed.

Interesting. I only tried it briefly with a VSR880 but also no sound. I assumed it was due to a bad cable or perhaps a wrong bitrate setting.

Re: MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
The Jupiter-80 digital output is 16 bits / 44 kHz only ... So, if you want connecting your Jupiter with s/pdif to your MX-1 then you must set bitrate & frequency at 16 / 44 on the MX-1 global setting ... And, or course, all others devices of your set-up ....
Re: MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
But if you want stay in 24/96 you clan insert a digital converter like Behringer Ultramatch Pro between your Jupiter-80 and your MX-1 ....

yep, this was it. changing the global freq to 44.1 did it.
i had thought about this initially when i was testing, but i figured this was for USB only and it didnt affect the digital port. the manual does not make this clear in my opinion.
all of the devices i tried where either 44.1 or 48 but not 96.. *facepalm*
i knew it was something simple...
cheers to you Meka...

YES! Works! Thank you all for the information.
Re: MX-1 Digital S/PDIF and Jupiter-80
Hey!
I'm having problems making the digital channel work on the MX1. I have setup the channel to 44,1 mode but still can't get any sound.
The MX1 works as a 24bits audio interface but I haven't find a setting to make it work at 16bits. No info about this on the manual but I assume that switching to 44,1 turns the device to 16bits mode, am i wrong?
I have been testing it both as an input and output channel and I haven't get any result on none of my test. The cable is ok cause I've been trying different equipments on my studio, just the MX1 don't work :(
Any ideas?
Thanks!
