Roland tr8 sound problem

I have got my Roland tr8 connected to my laptop via USB. But the sound is in Mono and is very quite and doesn't sound of good quality. Can anyone advise me of what I'm doing wrong. I am using ableton live 9 software and did try audacity but still in Mono and very low sound and not the best sound quality. Is there any other software I could use?
