External Audio on System 1M

This is probably a real daft question, but I simply can't seem to figure out how to get external audio processing to work on the System 1M. I've connected an output from the Signal Out on my MS20 Mini - going into the Ext-In on my System 1M - but it doesn't seem to register anything. I'm probably doing something really stupid, but I can't see it....

Help (please) :)
