Connecting Tr-8 to a Fantom G

I´m trying to connect my Tr-8 to my Fantom. Midi is connected from midi in (Tr-8) to midi through on the Fantom. It seems like the pattern on the TR is controlled by the Fantoms sequencer. As soon as I playing a song in song mode or record something on thr Fantom the pattern on the TR is kicking in. But the TR is never recorded as a Phrase in the Fantom. What am I doing wrong here? I haven´t really found out what the MSB and the LSB number are on the TR. I gues i must have theese numbers so the Fantom can found them.
