TR-8S Copy a Single Instruments Pattern to other Variations

Hello. First post here. I did a quick search for an answer to my question and couldn't find anything. Apologies if I missed something.

My question is whether or not you can copy an instrument's pattern from one variation to another without copying the entirety of the variation. I have tried holding down COPY and then pressing the button for a track ie CH and I get this prompt on the display: https://imgur.com/a/Lbl0L8M
Seeing this leaves me thinking that it's possible to simple, for instance, copy the closed hats from one variation to another but if I press the B variation button with the screen above present I am then prompted to copy the entire B variation to one of the other seven slots.
So... is it possble?

Yes, no problem. Use the COPY button and select TRACK. U can then copy A:HC to B:HC (or BD if you like).

There's no short cut like for copying KITs and PATTERNs, I'm afraid.
