MX-1 and Logic Pro

Greetings:
I've been trying for three days, without success, to get the MX-1 to work with Logic Pro. Attached to the unit is a TB-3 and a TR-8. When in standalone "mixed" mode, everything works fine."

However, switching over to EXT first of all leaves playback silent. I'm not sure whether or not I'm supposed to see the meters on the affected USB channels or the master, and the USB cable of the MX-1 is connected to the computer, an M1 Mac mini. I do have all the necessary AIRA drivers installed for the devices. I followed the directions from Roland regarding the audio and sync settings. Other than that, not sure how to get to working and done.
