Difference between TR-8S and TR-8S CTRL for DAW?
Difference between TR-8S and TR-8S CTRL for DAW?
Hi, I hooked my TR-8S up to my computer and was going to integrate it with Fruity Loops (yes, I know there's TR-8S software, it's great, but sometimes I want to use FL along with other instruments or external MIDI devices like my TB-03). When looking at the MIDI page I notice that there's both a "TR-8S" and a "TR-8S CTRL" device showing up. This isn't documented (that I can find) in either the manual or reference manual. What's the difference between these two? The boutique's were easy, as you can see in the screenshot, there's only 1 option for them.

Re: Difference between TR-8S and TR-8S CTRL for DAW?
The "TR-xS CTRL" MIDI device is used to control all the parameters of the unit through a hidden SysEx implementation.
The TR Editor available at Roland Cloud relies on it.
No regular MIDI DIN will work for this.
