Anyone know how to completely shut off the J-6 sequencer?

I'm working on a tune using my SQ-64, my Volcas and a Behringer Crave, and can't seem to integrate the J-6 into the workflow, since it seems to want to either be the master clock or midi controller or just exist by itself, instead of just being a sound module like I want. So, I need to disconnect the sequencer from midi, and just trigger the buttons in SQ-64 Keyboard Mode. I like the chords and if I could set the J-6 to the chord page I want and just trigger those it'd be perfect. The sequencer dosen't even seem to sync to temp very well. The manual dosen't say how to just deactivate the sequencer so I hope someone here can help.
