Several options using MIDI CC. You can transpose the entire sequence (or just selected parts) using the bender or pitch wheel, but that can be trickily and sometimes can create a glide effect. But if you use a DAW you can set hard pitch bends to whatever value you desire over CC, another way is to use a midi controller live with buttons, set them to pitch bend CC and semitone values you want them to bend to. Works pretty slick.
I usually create my sequence within the JD-XA, then export them out as SMF and dump them into my DAW or Alesis MMT-8. Then I can edit, transpose, etc, 'til the cows come home.
But it would be nice if Roland just updated the OS to do this. :(
Seems Roland's focus is on the System-8 now.
Another Sequencer Transpose Workaround
Re: Another Sequencer Transpose Workaround
Thanks for those tips mate, I will give it a go later. It does seem System 8 has Rolands focus at the moment (I do want one, I must admit) but hopefully the JD-XA is still being worked on! Cheers Glyn.
