Can someone confirm this mic input behavior?

I would appreciate if someone could confirm that the light around their mic input level (top panel) flashes when singing into a connected mic. Mine does, is this normal?

I have the gain knob on the back set to about halfways, and using a dynamic mic (obviously no phantom power on). Feels like this is a "warning, signal distorted". But feels strange since I only have the input gain at about 50%.

Yes. It's normal behaviour. The higher the gain the more intense the flashing of the mic input dial led ring. It's not a warning, just shows you that signal is present.
