Where are all the patches?

Post by runningman67 »

I've come from a Kronos (king kong) to my shiny fingerprint friendly JD XA (Godzilla).

I get the Bank thing etc but where are the individual patches. I could of sworn on the online Parameter PDF there was organs, bells and electric pianos.
Plus of course all the Synth patches.
Where are they to select individually?
Or am I mistaken.
I also have the Xi. Which isn't a toy IMO and I like others appreciate the Big Knob making patch finding easy.
Be gentle with me.

Thanks.

If you're looking for digital waveforms/PCM waves - they are tucked in the digital partials. Select one, and hit the "Variation" option in OSC1. You can scroll through 450 of them. These could be considered patches, or a full synth in some circles. Since you can layer three of these "partials with PCM sounds" for each digital part.. you can effectively have 12 of these 'patches' active with a single key press. That's not even mentioning the 2 oscillator per part (4 parts) of the analog section.

Anyway - it sound like your looking for organs. bells, ep pianos. Those are in the PCM sounds I menioned... there are 450..

If you're looking to kickstart your JD-XA experience, and load up with bread-n-butter full up 'programs' -- then I would suggest watching these videos by Gattobus:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrwB-qu-ASQ
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-k3ZPrqthg

He has posted all 20 of those programs, and 12 additional ones.. at this link: https://twitter.com/gattobus/status/780678857091342336

You can download those, and load them onto your JD-XA... and get kickstarted, on playing tunes. Really a good way to learn, and see what is possible.

Looking for tips? There is a link here - > https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/219 ... 0BKMs.docx With a collection of tips on using the JD-XA. These are pulled from a bunch of sources..

Thanks Joe.
I think the synth is a beast. My first proper 'synth' since I owned an original ARP Odyssey.
Its been Workstations for years for me since then.

Thanks again.
