I was researching something completely unconnected to the jd-xa and came across cableguys midishaper plug-in: http://www.cableguys.com/midi-shaper.html
For anyone that uses their jd-xa with a computer, this plugin might fill the modulation gap - giving a choice of 4 modulation sources (free/beat synced drawable LFOs or AHDSR envelopes) per instance, routable via a matrix to pitch/mod/aftertouch plus 6 selectable midi cc destinations eg cc#25 for crossmod.
It's not perfect, seeming better suited to evolving changes, but there's a free trial to check it out.

This also does a similar job - but seems to cope better with the faster stuff:
3 lfos + 4 envelopes + 2 slope generators

Just a quick note that dialog audio's modulation processor 3244 is on sale at the mo due to Superbooth until May 7th: $39 rather than $65. Lots of lovely modulation possibilities for the jd-xa with that if you're studio based.
