Tempo knob v Tap button.

Post by runningman67 »

The minimum tempo with the knob is 60 bpm but if you use the tap button it can go as slow as you like.

You could in theory slow it right down and turn one pattern into 2. e.g. if your song is 100 bpm you could tap the tempo to 50 and count a pattern as 2. If you see what I mean. Then you have an 8 pattern sequencer.

I notice the selectable tempo on many products is locked at 60, or 240 at the top end, but can all receive and operate at other tempos - everything I've come across is fine with 40-300bpm. I once had my MX-1 spazzing out at 955bpm receiving from another device which glitched hahaha... I always use an external clock for my JD-XA (usually a TR-8).

I suppose your idea would work if you created something that sounds different enough at half tempo to merit it being "another sequence" as opposed to just a slow/fast variant. You'd need a rock steady way to change tempo, easy if you use a DAW I suppose, a bit more difficult for hardware jammers.
